Samuel Suffren is a Haitian director and producer celebrated for his evocative storytelling and deeply personal narratives. He is currently completing a trilogy of short films inspired by his father’s life. The first film, Agwe (2022), premiered at Locarno and won Best Diaspora Film at FESPACO. The second, Dreams Like Paper Boats (2024), debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. The final installment, Blue Heart (2025), is featured in the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs). Samuel is also working on his debut feature documentary, Lòtbò, and developing a feature-length fiction project titled Je m’appelle Nina Shakira.
